Modern Bows

The modern bow was developed by the Tourte brothers around 1800. It differs from the classical bow mainly in the use of metal on the frogs and buttons. As a result, the balance point is different and the bow can be heavier. The stick is stronger, the hair is spread with a metal ferrule and sits in a wider band on the string. These changes produce a strong and consistent sound throughout the entire length of the bow.
The lengths and weights of Tourte bows have now become standard.

I developed my own bow models and always received positive feedback.
The sound of a bow is very important to me. The constant communication with musicians, the choice of materials and the unique construction of each bow remain my favourite challenges today.
